How to Craft an Actionable Plan for your Digital Journey with IoT

3:30 pm - 5:30 pm, Peridot 206, Level 2, MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO

Who is it for?*

This workshop does not require participants to have any specific industry knowledge, however cases drawn from B2B Industrial, Building/Cities perspectives will be covered. This workshop is best suited for the following roles:

  • Business Leaders
  • Business Analysts
  • Project Managers
  • Solutions Architects
  • Pre-Sales Consultants

*Limited to 50 pax on first come, first served basis only. Workshop attendees have to be registered as All-Access or Smart Cities / Industrial IoT conference delegates first before submitting your interest for this workshop.

Synopsis

Speaking to many Digital Leaders in the ecosystem, we have found that the key challenges they face are:

1. How to generate Digital Project Leads?

Due to the lack of operational / domain experience, many traditional tech leaders are unable to articulate the business/operational challenges of their clients.

2. How to scope, plan and deliver the Digital Project?

Every IoT project is different and requires integration of various technical and operational skills. It is very difficult for an organisation to have all skills in house, hence right validated partners with complementing skills are must.

3. How to be part of the IoT ecosystem?
With too many tech players mushrooming everywhere, the ecosystem is very crowded. It is very difficult to be visible, let alone to be a leader in a domain.

In this workshop, our Digital Expert will share actionable insights on how to address these three key challenges. He will share practical examples and use cases to explain the thought process that you can apply in your projects and accelerate your Digital Journey.

Led by

C K Vishwakarma, Founder, IoTSG & AllThingsConnected, Singapore

Mode of workshop

Workshop will consist 50% of presentation by Digital Expert, 25% of Group Discussion, 25% of exercise. A certificate of attendance will be provided to all participants who attend.

Overview of Quantum Information Processing and Implications (60 minutes)

Synopsis

The rules governing how information can be processed cannot truly be separated from the underlying physics of the system representing the information. This realisation has led to the emergence of the new field of quantum information processing, which seeks to harness quantum phenomena to enhance our ability to manipulate and transmit data. This paradigm is leading to a new wave of technologies that can change the landscape of computation and cryptography. The talk will cover the basic ideas of quantum information processing and discuss the implications of this emerging computational model for cryptography.

Workshop leader

Dr Joseph Fitzsimons, Principal Investigator, Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore and Associate Professor, Singapore University of Technology and Design, Singapore

Break (30 minutes)

Emerging applications of quantum technology: Secure key distribution, randomness generation, sensing, atomic clocks (60 minutes)

Synopsis

Developments in quantum technologies over the last two decades are not only showing possibilities emerging with the new computation paradigm but also in early-stage commercial products.  For example, secure key distribution is now an available method of securing communication links between two points; another is physical randomness generators, with the source of randomness based on uncertainty in quantum measurement processes. More recently, sensing applications for probing magnetic fields e.g. colour centers in diamonds are seeing interest from industry, while atomic clocks as ultimate time standards are seeing amazing developments in recent years despite being around for some time.   This section of the workshop will highlight some of the real, accessible and practical applications of quantum technologies in industry.

Workshop leader

Christian Kurtsiefer, Professor, Centre for Quantum Technologies,National University of Singapore, Singapore

Better and Smarter Ways to Digitally Transform Your Organisation - Insights from a Global Survey

3:30 pm - 5:30 pm, Opal 103, Level 1, MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO

Who is it for?*

Technology professionals interested in the trends and developments in the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR), and digital transformation.

*Limited to 50 pax on first come, first served basis only. Workshop attendees have to be registered as All-Access or Smart Cities / Industrial IoT conference delegates first before submitting your interest for this workshop.

Synopsis

Based on interesting results from a digital transformation survey conducted by LKY-CIC in collaboration with IoT Asia from October 2017 to January 2018, leaders of this workshop will interpret the findings and actively discuss insights with workshop participants to collectively make sense of the survey’s implications. Some topics to be discussed include:

  • Trends and pathways of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR),
  • How employees across different industries and occupations perceive and experience digital transformation in their jobs
  • How organisations can mitigate the effects of transformation for their employees.

Participants can also discuss with the workshop leaders the survey results' implications on their own organizations (such as the challenges, opportunities and threats of transformation), and practical ideas about how their own organizations might make progress in digital transformation.
